
What a year it’s been.
We started Fernish in 2017 with a mission to make people’s lives more flexible, sustainable, and personal. Our story was just like yours: urban professionals excited about where our next opportunity in life might take us, but not always certain about the destination or how long we’d be there. The reality of moving to a new city or even into a new apartment was always expensive, stressful, and often overwhelming.
That’s why we started Fernish- to give customers a fundamentally new option for moving and living. It’s been energizing to hear our subscribers tell us about how Fernish has saved them from the hassles and costs that come with the traditional process of buying, moving, storing, and selling furniture.
As 2019 comes to a close, our story only continues to grow. This year we hit a huge milestone: $10 million in customer savings. That’s $10 million Fernish subscribers saved from having to buy permanent furniture from traditional retail stores. This gives our customers the flexibility to spend their hard-earned money on other things that matter to them- from traveling to a new city to a memorable night out with friends.

We also made meaningful strides in our goal to keep low-quality, disposable furniture out of circulation. This year, we saved 75 tons of furniture from landfills. That’s the equivalent weight of 11 Tyrannosaurus Rex. You would have to stack almost 8 Empire State Buildings to reach the height of all that furniture stacked end-to-end! We attribute these savings to our Circular Ready™ process: each piece of furniture returned to Fernish goes through a multi-step refurbishing and deep cleaning process so that we can give it a second, third, and even fourth life. And by working with premium suppliers like Crate&Barrel, CB2, Floyd, and Campaign, we’re able to combine modern style with lasting durability.

As we close the book on 2019, we’re excited about how far we’ve come. Six days a week Fernish trucks navigate streets of Los Angeles and Seattle. Our crews deliver and assemble hundreds of pieces of furniture each week, which has collectively saved our subscribers over 200 days of furniture assembly in 2019. Thousands of visitors come to our website every day to browse our curated rooms, individual furniture pieces and decor options. Millions of people have learned about our company and our mission from pieces in The New York Times, Fast Company, The Atlantic, Forbes, ABC News, and about a dozen other national outlets.
We couldn’t have hit these huge milestones without you, the customers who support our business, our mission, and our team. We’re incredibly grateful for the brand that you’ve helped us build together, and we’re excited for everything 2020 has in store!
